Congratulations Craig Dougherty and Walt Tanimoto!

This week at the VFW Department of Washington State Convention Craig (Right) was elected as the VFW Department of Washington State Commander and Walt (Left)was elected as the State Surgeon.

Craig served as VFW Post 6785’s post commander for 5 years, and two years as the District 11 Commander.  Craig later was elected to State Surgeon, the steppingstone to state commander in five years.

Walt has served two years as the 6785 post commander and will be serving a third year as post commander while serving as Department as the State Surgeon.

Washington’s leadership program is a five year process starting with the State Surgeon position, then moving on to the State Judge Advocate position, then to the State Junior Vice, then to the State Senior Vice Commander, and finally to the State Commander position.  At each step they are elected by the members of the Washington VFW.

Congratulations to both of you!!!
