Greetings from VFW Post 6785 in Kent, WA!
VFW Post 6785 in Kent, WA honors veterans on Veterans Day at the Tahoma National Cemetery Veterans Day event, at the Auburn Veterans Day Parade, and at many local schools. However, this year in the interest of public safety and our wish for everyone to Stay Home, Stay Safe, and to remain compliant with the COVID-19 pandemic related mitigation efforts, we thought we would bring Veterans Day to you in the comforts of your home. The Veterans Day video is set to bugle calls and ceremonial music, and we hope this brings back fond memories and stories when you were in the service.
We like to thank the City of Kent Mayor, Dana Ralph, for taking the time to participate in the Veterans Day video as the keynote speaker.
Thank you veterans, families, and Gold Star families you all for your service and sacrifices.
VFW Post 6785 was organized 29 September 1978 and our first Commander was Howard Whitley. The Panther Lake Post was formed in 1991 and its first Commander was Cal Horman. In 2008 the two posts consolidated and became known as the Kent-Meridian Post 6785. The first Post Commander for Kent-Meridian was William (Bill) Russell, and now currently commanded by Army veteran Craig Dougherty.
