Our new plaque for Legacy Life members

This Christmas day, our post joined with the Department and the American Legion to distribute care packages to patients at the VA hospital in Seattle.

Post member Charley Chester was at The Tahoma Cemetery and placed several wreaths on veterans plot including a couple of ours:
The plot RobertW Gilliam. I placed a wreath signed by our post and me. This veteran I recognized because he was
A true friend of Princess Hall & Calvin Horman who tried to recruit him to join our VFW Post. Princess felt a need to recognize him. So I accomplished that deed for her and our post honoring her request even though he wasn’t a post member. I even mailed his wife a card with the picture I took.
Russel William Plot. I also placed a wreath. Each one of these plot I prayed a short prayer and gave a snappy salute.
Chester James/Maxine plot. He & she is my daughter-in law grandparents and we’re dear friends of the family for years. Chet got the Bronze Star in Itally and wounded also. A true American Hero and dear friend for so many reasons. So our post also recognized him for that even though he wasn’t a post member.
There is my story behind these photographs.

Our Post was honored by the visit of the family of our late comrade Bill Russell at our October Post meeting. The family presented the Achievement plaque that we presented to Bill prior to his passing. They also presented us with his Bronze Legacy Life Membership plaque. Both of these plaques will be mounted on the walls of our Post. The photo is of the family during the presentation.

Mr. Sample,
Thanks for the email and the thoughts from the post. We are now down range in our Area of Operation. There is a lot going on here, and in the outlying areas. I can’t say too much over the net (OPSEC) which I’m sure you understand. Tell the folks at the post they would be proud of the Men and Women here and the work they are doing. Forever will we strive to maintain the tremendous reputation of those that came before us. You guys have paved the way for us through blood, sweat and tears. And, after you all have handed us, giving my comrades and I the nation to keep secure, to ensure the security of the Republic, we will never fail, and hand you back nothing. Rest assured we will exceed your expectations. Sleep well.
We have the watch…
